My favorite holiday is Christmas. The reasons I love this holiday are making danishes with my mom, shopping for gifts, finding the perfect Christmas tree, and the colorful decorations. These five things are just the basic highlights of my Christmas.
Making danishes with my mom. I love doing this because my grandmother used to make them but she has stopped. So we took over, its her secret recipe so I can’t tell you what they have in them but they are delicious. I remember one year we made danishes at my great aunts house. My aunts name is Elsie Adams we just call her aunt Elsie. Now my moms old friend Mary Lou was house sitting for the winter so we went to aunt Elsie’s to make the danishes. Well we used the same color dishes for the sugar cookies and the danishes. We cooked the danishes and they kept burning, and then we cooked the sugar cookies they weren’t sweet. We then realized we accidently swapped the dough's. So we made the danish dough and the sugar cookie dough. We never told my dad or grand mother though so shhhh.
Ok now shopping for gifts. I love shopping for gifts cause I love all the christmas decorations. I also love my families tradition. Ok the tradition is that every year the week before the week of Christmas we spend the weekend at the Mariott Hotel in Portland. I love this tradition because the very first year we did it their was a huge blizzard, it was cool because we were sitting in a hot tub watching the blizzard outside. Now think about that sitting in hot water in your bathing suit watching a blizzard, thats why I like that tradition. Another reason I like Christmas shopping is just this year we started going to New Hampshire to shop at the christmas dove with Bradens family.
Finding the perfect christmas tree is one of the best. Now I love this cause we always get a big tall one. Now when picking a Christmas at our house it needs to be tall and fat. This is important cause we have a large living room, and a big tree looks good in our house. We also need a big tree because wee have a lot and I mean a lot of ornaments. We also like big trees cause we’ve always gotten one ever since we had our house.
When I see christmas lights and decorations I feel all warm inside. Don’t ask why cause I don’t even know. But I do know one thing I love all the colors and how every color looks good together on christmas. I mean naturally green and yellow don’t look good together but on christmas it does, have you ever realized that? Well I know I have. I also like those little christmas scenes; you know with the little ice skating rink , store, mail shop, and sometimes a train. If I could I would live in one of those little towns all decorated and beautiful.
Now these where just my favorite things about christmas; but one thing I want to point out is I don’t think christmas is waking up on christmas morning and seeing what Santa left under the christmas tree.(Yes I do believe in santa) To me christmas is spending time with friends and family and making laughs, knowing that Christmas is the day to say “ Thanks for the love”... well at least thats what I feel christmas is about.
